Dottie Ruth

Dottie, the African leopard tortoise, died yesterday. My family has said good bye to her. She wasn't feeling well in January, and the vet prescribed some changes and medicine for a respiratory infection. Her health continued to decline despite the rest and medicine. We will sure miss her. Thanks for the guidance, Horizon Animal Hospital. Thank you to Missy Daniel-Melissa, Guinther Akers, Aaron Akers, Alex Akers & Glenda Leuthold for letting me raise her for the past several years. Thank you to those who helped search for her when she took her summer trips across Crawford County. Thank you Fishy Business for caring for her when she was brought into your shop. Thank you to those neighbors who kept an eye out for her when she was walking cross country and those who gave up some summer to go on foot looking for her. We give appreciation to our Wynford school employees who called when she took a bath, by herself, one evening and those who shared care duties while I was at Mohican or during holiday breaks and school cancellations. Thank you to all the students who cared and spent time with Dottie over the years. She loved the tender care, fresh greens, and other special treats. She enjoyed being read to, petted, and she loved crawling under your desks and smelling your shoes. Dottie spent time showing her stuff at Lowe-Volk Park, Back to School carnival at Bucyrus United Methodist Church, and of course at Wynford. She was in many yearbook photos and scrapbooks. Sully, the sulcata, is roaming the outside summer pen looking for Dottie, as he is sad too.
