Jonesy James Brickey

Listen to Obituary

Last Sunday, the last of 6 wonderful and distinctly individual cats crossed the rainbow bridge. Jonesy James, one of 6 amazing siblings born on St. Patrick's day 2008, was 17. They were known as the "chickens", his human grandfather bestowed them with the title because of the corn litter we used made their box smell like a chicken pen. They definitely weren't cats. All 6 were distinct, didn't share fur color or personalities. Each unlike the other except for the marbling in the fur. Jonesy was always an orange cat, attitude and curiosity always present. The 6 were the center of the household and dictated how the other animals in the home would behave. Throughout our journey together he would sit near the TV or wherever one of us was. He enjoyed conversations, often giving his opinion. He loved sharing chicken (not cannibalistic at all) and cheese sandwiches with me, without asking. He wasn't much a greeter, but always loved attention. He leaves a small group of step fur-siblings Inky, Toes, Ripley (his protector and helper in his old age) and Remy his protégé and tormentor the last year. There will never be another, as there never was a group of siblings like the chickens before. I'll miss you my constant companion on the couch and dining table. Reunited with his Siblings, Sean, Smurph, Angel, Erin and Patrick. You will be greatly missed.

Love Dad and Mom
